Vanishing Ship (Third State)

A satellite variation of the The Lahontan Group, I-III, and the third and final installation of the hull structure of "Vanishing Ship," the first and second installations as Vanishing Ship (Greenhouse for Lake Lahontan), were at the UC Berkeley Art Museum in 1987 and Smithsonian Institution, in 1989. The original concept for "Vanishing Ship" was developed during a 1984 residency at the Djerassi Resident Artist Program, as Sinking Ship/Greenhouse (Alien Flora/Ancient Sea). These investigations were the prototype for: Metafossil (Pinus: radiata, ponderosa, balfouriana), 1992 and Deep Gradient/Suspect Terrane.., 1993, Yerba Buena Gardens, San Francisco, CA
