14 ft. h., steel, alder trees, white cement, native rock, University of Nevada, Reno, NV, 1987 A reconstruction of part of the framwork for the kiln/furnace project, Ancient Shoreline/Island For Lake Lahontan, 1985, a temporary work installed at the University of Nevada, Reno in 1985. This project represents a "conversation" between the Ice Ages of northern Nevada (the "snow" covered fish/fossil) and the contemporary climate (three alder trees). Over time the growth of the trees engage the structure of the image. This is the second of three works of the Lahontan Group I-III, concieved and constructed as an elegy for the ice age Lake Lahontan. A site inspection in the early 1990's, indicated the trees were inadvertently removed, current condition of the work is unknown.
